April Trapshoot a Success for Paulding FFA!

On Saturday, April 18th, eight Paulding FFA members came out to participate in the April trapshoot at the Paulding Fish and Game Center. This was the seventh trapshoot of the school year. Troy Zeller from the Paulding Fish and Game club reviewed safety and the event rules with members before they received their equipment. Contestants grabbed earplugs, safety glasses, and their firearms to compete in the contest. At the range, contestants are then separated into different squads where they will rotate through 5 different shooting positions.  Members competing were Nolan Schlatter, Owen Workman, Remington Boroff, Karlee Kohart, Kendall Kohart, Lily Leatherman, and Harley Troyer. Remington Boroff won the plaque sponsored by our FFA Chapter, shooting a 37 out of 50, and Harley Troyer came in 2nd. Jim Hoops was also able to stop by and watch the kids trapshoot. Remington said his favorite part of trap shooting is the thrill you get when you see the clay shatter. His advice to other members is to try to use a gun that you are comfortable using, along with the same exact ammo every
time, and to practice with the same setup you plan to use. After some time, it will become muscle memory, and you will know exactly where to lead your targets. Harley said that her favorite part of trapshooting is being able to shoot stuff, and the advice she would give is to hold your head high, even if you don't get a good score. We would like to thank the Fish and Game Club and its members for all their help and support for the Paulding FFA program.

Mental Health

Paulding County Residents, we need your help!  Paulding County Schools are having a friendly competition! Students were encouraged to design an ad/slogan to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.  Each of the schools chose their school winner.  We need your help to choose the winner for the entire county! Please vote for your favorite poster, drawing, slogan by liking or loving their submission by Sunday, April 19th

The student with the most “likes” will win a $100 gift card and be recognized as the county winner!

Reducing the stigma surrounding mental health is crucial in our schools. Stigma prevents people of all ages from seeking the help they need, leading to prolonged suffering and sometimes isolation. By promoting conversations, education, advocacy, and empathy, we can all create an environment where people feel safe to prioritize their own mental well-being and seek treatment when needed.

FFA Leadership Summit

Paulding FFA Officers Travel to FFA Leadership Summit at Huntington University
Recently, nine FFA leaders along with their agriculture teachers Mrs. Staci Miller
and Ms. Baylee March traveled to Huntington University for the 12th Annual FFA
leadership Summit held in Huntington, Indiana. At this conference, the FFA officers had
the opportunity to learn more about the “ingredients” of leadership in restaurant themed
team-building exercises. They worked with other FFA members from Ohio and Indiana
as well as state officers from Ohio on activities that strengthened those skills. The
members had lunch and then listened to the keynote speaker of the day who was Mr.
Mark Voors, Training Innovation Manager at Beck’s Hybrids. The Paulding FFA has
gone to this event for the past ten years and truly enjoy it every time. The members
can’t wait to participate in this event next year. It was a wonderful day to gain more
knowledge about FFA and learn vital leadership skills to take back to the Paulding FFA
Chapter!
