Paulding Eagles Supports Paulding Ag Program

Recently the Paulding Fraternal Orders of the Eagle supported the Paulding Agricultural
Education Program through a grant to purchase new work benches for the agricultural shop
area and also to purchase a medium size drone for the new capstone class that is focusing on
drones. The work benches in the agricultural shop were over 25 years old. The benches were
worn and were falling apart making it hard for students to have adequate work space. There
are over 130 students involved in the Ag Education program at Paulding that are out shop area
working on a variety of different projects throughout each school year. The grant funds made it
possible to replace 4 work bench tops to provide students a safe area to work on their projects.
In addition, funding allowed the capstone class to purchase a drone to enhance learning
opportunities. Students are now able to capture aerial photos and videos of fields and local
properties, gaining valuable experience with agricultural technology. Through this program,
students are learning about unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and preparing to obtain their FAA
Part 107 Remote Pilot License. The Paulding Ag Education program is deeply grateful for the
support of the Paulding Eagles. Their generosity ensures students have access to safe, updated
equipment and cutting-edge technology that will benefit them for years to come. We are so
appreciative of the support of our local Paulding Eagles and want to thank them for helping to
better the hands-on educational learning environment of our students at Paulding Exempted
Village.

FFA Officers Attend Leadership Conference Sept 2025

Paulding FFA Travels to the Ohio State House for Leadership Conference

On Tuesday, September 24th, four Paulding FFA officers traveled down to Columbus for
the Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference. The officers included Vice President Tori Schlatter, Secretary Myrriah Manz, Reporter Vivienne Myers, Chaplin Jacob Harris and their FFA advisor, Ms. Baylee March. In the morning, the students mingled with other FFA chapters while playing a game that separated them into representatives and lobbyists. The lobbyists argued for a specific bill to be passed and the representatives decided whether that bill aligned with their values or not. The Paulding FFA Chapter presented a bill regarding hydraulic fracking in Ohio in which they proposed several, more environmentally friendly, alternatives. After this, they explored the State House and met with an aide from Representative Roy Klopfenstein’s office to learn more about the inner workings of Ohio’s government. The students also heard Tim Schaffer speak, a former Ohio senator and current state representative. The chapters were then served lunch and got to meet State FFA officers and various state representatives. Ohio FFA President, Carter Boyd, then gave a closing speech regarding the importance of representing the needs of agriculture in our government. The Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference was an excellent opportunity for our officers to learn more about representing agriculture for the better.

September Trapshoot a Success for Paulding FFA!

September Trapshoot a Success for Paulding FFA!

On Saturday, September 27th, seven Paulding FFA members came out to participate in the
annual trapshoot at the Paulding Fish and Game Center. This was the first trapshoot of the
school year. Troy Zeller with the Paulding Fish and Game club went over safety and the rules of the event with members before they got their equipment on. Contestants grabbed ear plugs,
safety glasses, and their firearms to compete in the contest. They then went out to the range. At the range, contestants are then separated into different squads where they will rotate through 5 different shooting positions from there on out shooting 25 clays per group. The goal of trapshoot is to shoot as many clay pigeons accurately as possible. Members competing were Remington Boroff, Mackenzie Leatherman, Lily Leatherman, Harley Troyer, Blake Trausch, Owen Workman and Nolan Schlatter. Remington Boroff won the plaque shooting a 18 our 25 and Mackenzie coming in 2nd with a score of 15 out of 25. We also had several members and parents come out to watch the shoot and encourage our members who were competing. Our next Trapshoot is Oct 25th at 11:30am We would like to thank the Fish and Game Club and its members for all their help and support for the Paulding FFA program.

Paulding FFA Students Compete at District Soils Contest

Paulding FFA Students Compete at District Soils Contest

On September 23rd, 10 students from the Paulding FFA attended District 4 Soils CDE in
Wapak. These students either choose to focus on urban or agriculture soils judging. Students
survey soil pits, take a general knowledge test, and take a soil survey. When the students are at
the pits they are judging the pit on the soil texture, structure, slope, drainage class, and
compaction. The urban team must answer questions about whether the soil is good for building
and the agriculture soils team answers questions about how suitable the soil is for farming. The
Ag soils team placed 16th in the district. The team was made up of Blake Trausch, Jacob
Harris, Mackenzie Leatherman, Estie Pease and Wesley Grindstaff. Standout among the team
was Jacob Harris who placed 58th. The urban soils team placed 18th, top finisher from this
team being Nolan Schlatter who placed 62nd. The team was made up of Nolan Schlatter,
Chase Manz, Addison Arend, Darcy Taylor and Jayla Griffith. This was the first CDE of the year
and we want to applaud both teams for their efforts and for representing Paulding FFA proudly
at the district competition.

Paulding FFA is Feeding the Farmers in the Fields!

Paulding FFA is Feeding the Farmers in the Fields!

On Wednesday and Thursday, October 8th and 9th, the Paulding FFA Chapter had over
30 members travel around Paulding County to feed the farmers in the fields. The chapter first
started doing this service project five years ago and it's one of our favorite projects to do each year. The chapter found that it was a great way to support local farmers and thank them for their countless hours of work to feed our world! The students prepared snack packs in various bags to give to the farmers while they were working in the field or just needed a snack in the combine. These bags contain items such as chocolate chip cookies, oreos, granola bars, fruit snacks, slim jims, chips, candy bars, sunglasses, stress cow toy, can koozie and a bottle of water or Gatorade. The chapter would like to say a special thanks to Ag Credit, Beck’s, Williamson Crop Insurance, Paulding County Farm Bureau and Paulding SWCD for their contributions to making this yearly community service project happen. A handwritten, sincere thank you note was also included in each bag. The FFA members delivered 250 snack packs to farmers in Paulding County. It was a very rewarding experience for our members as they got to interact with the farmers directly and learn about what they do every day! Feeding our farmers is one of the many ways we try to thank our farmers and show our support for them! The Paulding FFA is very excited to continue this project in the future. We are striving to continue to increase the number of snack packs each year and thank more of our hard-working farmers!
